MMC has collected great feedback from operators of MMC vessels operating worldwide. This operational feedback has supported the evaluation of the existing design in the new generation of MMC Vessel.

 

 

HIGH BOW PROFILE
& BULB BOW SHAPE

Vessel safety is top priority and has never been compromised but the designers should also keep the crew members subjective assessment of the vessel behavior and seakeeping in mind.
In order to support vessel behavior in extreme weather conditions in the next generation of the vessel, we introduced higher sheltered forecastle deck.
The higher bow profile provides extra bow buoyancy supporting seakeeping and helps to keep forward ventilation openings and bow deck machinery away from the sea.
A more slender bow bulb and forward waterlines are introduced in the new design. This feature will
be reducing bow slamming during heading against the wave and during station keeping.

 

FUEL EFFICIENCY

The new design received a completely new body shape. The final result is an effect of our focus
on the reduction of hull resistance at service speed and seakeeping performance.
Significant power reduction at service speed was achieved (more than 20%)
in comparison to the previous generation of the ship and also emissions were
reduced, which makes SBC environmentally friendly.

 

Roll Motion Controll

The anti-roll unit consist two tanks, one above the other. The anti-roll unit is located above deck aft
of accommodation. This configuration does not lead to the wastage of the tanks capacity below deck and improves the efficiency of anti-roll tanks as the unit is located high above the center of rotation.
The whole unit is separated from accommodation by a passage or cofferdam in order to not transfer noise to crew areas. The operation of tanks is supported by liquid level/roll period indication system assisting the crew with the information about the sufficient level
of fluid in the tank.

 

Innovative location of engine room

The vessel engine room is located just below the work deck and away from the accommodation block. Such an arrangement significantly improves the main overhaul of the generator sets, especially if the removal of the entire generator set is necessary or desired.
Another remarkable benefit is that the source of noise and vibrations is away from accommodation areas, which increasing crew comfort and efficiency.

BOW ANCHOR STOWAGE

Bow anchor stowage was changed into anchor pocket in order to have a smooth bow shape.
This arrangement is possible due to a slenderer bow bulb and a higher enclosed forecastle deck.
The expected effects include less resistance, slamming and noise when sailing at rough sea.

Cargo deck separated from accomModation

The vessel accommodation area is separated from the cargo deck by over deck anti roll tanks
and steel bulkhead extended to the cargo deck.
A steel barrier protects the accommodation, life-saving appliances like FRB and life rafts from potential heat during fire on deck.
Air intakes to the accommodation and engine room are located behind the barrier and are not facing
the cargo deck.

Aft bottom shape

The shape of aft bottom frames was made more V-shaped in the new design in order to reduce slamming during the station keeping.

COMPLIANCE WITH FUTURE LEGISLATION

In accordance with the future legislation, safety conditions related to the handling of drilling fluids like liquid mud or drilling brines will be increased. Additionally, new requirements for the separation of the Engine Room from NLS space are expected.
The new arrangement of the vessel with the Cement Room between the Engine Room and areas containing noxious liquids will be fully compliant with the new requirements.
